What to Expect
- Transportation: You’ll be picked up in the morning by an English-speaking guide, known as Rafiki, who will drive you to Materuni Village. The drive includes a scenic route, passing through beautiful forests and bumpy roads.
- The Waterfall: The walk to Materuni Waterfalls takes about 40 minutes and is an adventurous experience. The waterfall stands at an impressive 80 meters high, and the power of the water creates a refreshing atmosphere perfect for a swim. Don’t forget to bring swimwear to enjoy the natural pool at the base of the waterfall.
- Cultural Experience: Along the walk, your guide will share the history of the Chagga tribe, the village’s way of life, and details about the surrounding flora and fauna. You may even spot the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro if the weather is clear.
- Local Lunch and Coffee Tour: After visiting the waterfall, return to the village to enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch and taste local banana beer. Then, dive into a unique coffee experience where you will learn how coffee is cultivated, processed, and roasted.
