Lemosho Route 7-Day Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Moshi – Starting Point – Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,780 m)
- Duration: 02:25 h
- Distance: 4.7 km
- Ascent: 400 m
- Begin your journey with a drive to Londorossi Gate (2,250 m). After gate registration, you’ll trek through the rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,800 m). An armed ranger accompanies you for safety.
Overnight: Mti Mkubwa Camp

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m)
- Duration: 07:45 h
- Distance: 15.2 km
- Ascent: 1,160 m
- Descent: 70 m
- Trek through grassy moorland and volcanic rock formations. Enjoy stunning views of Kibo Peak as you ascend toward Shira 2. This day aids acclimatization with gradual altitude gain.
Overnight: Shira 2 Camp

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3,950 m) via Lava Tower

- Ascent: 700 m
- Descent: 660 m
- Trek past Lava Tower (4,600 m) and enjoy beautiful landscapes with snow-capped vistas. Descend to Barranco Camp while passing Shark’s Tooth and the Western Breach.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3,930 m)

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Summit (5,895 m) via Stella Point, Descent to Mweka Camp (3,100 m)

- Start the ascent to the summit at midnight. Reach Stella Point after 5-7 hours, then continue to Uhuru Peak. Celebrate your summit success and descend to Barafu Camp for rest. Afterward, head to Mweka Camp for the night.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,800 m) to Moshi

- Descent: 1,420 m
- Descend through the rainforest, observing wildlife like colobus monkeys. Arrive at Mweka Gate for paperwork, a celebration meal, and your climbing certificate.

- Visa for TanzaniaVisas are required for all visitors, and cost about $50. For most nationalities it is possible to get a visa upon arrival when you arrive at the airport in Tanzania. Check with your local Tanzanian embassy or consulate to see what the requirements are.
- Flights to and from MoshiThe total amount is also exclusive of flights to and from Tanzania. To get an idea of which airlines are visiting Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), it is best to have a look at their website.
- Personal expensesAll personal expenses such as drinks at the bar, washing and other similar expenses are for your own account.
- Travel Insurance Including RepatriationYour international travel insurance is your own responsibility. It is important that your travel insurance also covers adventures at a high altitude. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before you travel to Tanzania.
